In 2014, my father was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).  We quickly learned that there had not been a new treatment protocol for AML in over forty years.  My father was convinced that would change soon and he wanted to be a part of making that happen.  Even though he knew it would not be in time to save him, he bravely sacrificed his body to research the last nine months of his life and endured excruciatingly painful clinical research treatments before he lost his battle.

Devastated by the loss of my father, I knew I had to continue his fight.  I reached out to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and asked how I could get involved and haven’t looked back since.  I started as an Executive Challenger for Light the Night, chaired Man & Woman of the Year, sit on the O.S.W.I.M. Board and hold an annual event called Afternoon Tea & Bubbly…a gorgeous excuse to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  I’ve personally raised thousands of dollars myself but am most proud of the hundreds of thousands of dollars impact I’ve had through getting my extremely talented, influential and generous network involved with LLS.

During my time spent with survivors, fighters and family members of remembered ones; it has taught me the significance of a simple gesture.  And how it may do more for that person and family than anything they have received in the last month.  And at the risk of sounding cliché, it is true that by giving we receive.  The more I am able to give of my talents, skills, time and money to a cause which I believe so strongly in, the more others connect with me.  These connections in all of their forms and complexity have greatly enriched my life.

Working with LLS has allowed me to experience something so much larger than myself.  I am humbled, inspired and satisfied all at once.  I love to get my family, friends and clients involved with LLS.  Did you know that many of the treatments funded by LLS have gone on to be used to treat all types of cancers?  And who hasn’t been touched by some kind of cancer.  Ask me how you or your business can get involved.  There are so many great and easy ways to make a difference.  Help find a cure for blood cancer.  Someday is today!
